In May 2026, Melbourne and Sydney audiences will have the rare opportunity to experience A Whole New World of Alan Menken – Stories and Songs in concert by the 8-Time Oscar-Winning Composer, marking the first time Alan Menken has ever performed publicly in Australia. This extraordinary event celebrates one of the most influential musical voices of the last four decades, whose work has become woven into the fabric of modern culture.

Alan Menken’s music has shaped the soundscape of animated classics, blockbuster films, and iconic stage musicals. His timeless songs, including “Beauty and the Beast,” “A Whole New World,” “Colors of the Wind,” and “Go the Distance” have reached millions worldwide, earning him an unparalleled legacy in contemporary musical storytelling. His stage musicals include Little Shop of Horrors, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Sister Act, Newsies, Aladdin, A Bronx Tale, Hercules, King David, and many more.

His film work is equally legendary, scoring and writing songs for The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Enchanted, Tangled, and the live-action film remakes of Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. His individual contributions to film include “The Measure of a Man,” “My Christmas Tree,” “Winter Light,” and “Star Spangled Man.”

A true industry titan, Menken is the winner of 8 Academy Awards, holding the distinction of being the most awarded living Oscar recipient.
